Award-winning Cauliflower ‘Triomphant’ is ready just in time for Christmas, producing dense white curds with excellent flavour, well protected by robust foliage. This versatile vegetable can be harvested through December and January and holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Sow indoors
Sow thinly, 1cm (1?2in) deep in clean trays or modules of firm, pre-watered compost. Keep soil moist at all times.
Plant out
Plant into the required harvest position 45cm (18in) apart with 45cm (18in) between each row when plants have 3-4 true leaves. October sowings can be overwintered in a cold frame and planted out in March for the earliest harvests.
Sow outdoors
Sow thinly, 1cm (1?2in) deep in a seed bed or clean module trays of firm, pre-watered compost. Keep soil moist at all times. Thin to 10cm (4in).
Transplant
When seedlings have produced 4 leaves, transplant them to their cropping position leaving 45cm (18in) between plants in rows 45cm (18in) apart. Firm in and keep well watered in dry spells.
Tips
Use netting to prevent damage from Cabbage White Butterfly. Sprinkling with a little lemon juice before cooking helps to retain the colour.
