Flowering Cherry Tree ‘Kojo No Mai’
- Compact, bushy tree with a spread up to 2.5m
- Fiery autumn colour with vibrant oranges and reds
- Early spring flowers with white blossoms blushed with pink
‘Prunus Kojo-no-mai’ is a stunning, compact flowering cherry tree that’s perfect for smaller gardens, balconies, and container displays. This bushy deciduous tree blooms from March to April with delicate white blossoms tinged with pink, attracting early pollinators. The tree’s name, meaning ‘flight of the butterflies’ in Japanese, perfectly reflects its graceful, butterfly-like flowers. Its unique zig-zag branches provide a beautiful silhouette, especially in winter when the tree has no leaves or flowers. In autumn, the leaves turn vibrant oranges and reds, adding extra seasonal interest before falling and revealing the tree’s striking winter structure. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, ‘Kojo-no-mai’ is an excellent choice for any garden.
