These larvae are notorious for attacking plant root systems from late summer through spring, often going unnoticed until it’s too late. By using nematodes, you can effectively disrupt their lifecycle:
- Grubs stop feeding within 3 days of infection.
- They are killed within 2-4 weeks, depending on temperature.
- Nematodes complete their lifecycle within the grub and re-enter the soil to seek out additional larvae.
For best results, apply Nemasys twice a year—in spring and autumn—to break the lifecycle of vine weevils and maintain the health of your plants. Ensure that the soil temperature is 5ºC (40ºF) or higher for optimal effectiveness. Nematodes can survive occasional frosts and will reactivate as temperatures rise. Store them refrigerated upon delivery and apply by the date shown on the packaging for maximum efficacy. Even if applied slightly after the use-by date, they will still be effective if kept cold.
