For a long-lasting shot of intense colour, Sambucus ‘Golden Towers’ is a real winner.
It produces a profusion of attractive golden yellow, deeply-cut leaves, along with clusters of flowers and berries. This tall and upright deciduous shrub can be grown on its own or mixed with perennials or other shrubs in a border.
This hardy shrub is friendly to wildlife, supplying nectar for insects and food for birds. It grows to three metres (118ins) in height and has a spread of around a metre (39ins). To enjoy the foliage at its best, cut this shrub back to ground level each year in early spring and mulch well.
Tolerates a variety of soil conditions.
